Radiation Therapist

32 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Job Description

The Radiation Therapist is responsible for the daily delivery of radiation treatments to cancer patients, performing CT simulations, and initial setup of new treatment areas. The role includes providing emotional and educational support to radiation oncology patients and their families while assisting physics staff to ensure accurate treatment records and dosimetric procedures.

Responsibilities

Perform ionizing radiation treatments and schedule patient appointments to ensure smooth department flow and quality care.

Conduct radiographic and CT procedures, producing images for interpretation by licensed practitioners.

Exercise professional judgment in the performance of services, maintaining high standards of medical ethics.

Work directly with physicians during treatments and simulations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Must have recent experience using an Elekta machine.

Certificate from an accredited education program in radiation therapy.

RT(T) Registered Radiation Therapist or registry-eligible ARRT from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

State license for Iowa.

Must demonstrate an understanding of cancer, radiation biology, and radiation safety.

Highly motivated and team-oriented.
