Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our team.
This role involves assisting with the day-to-day management of swine research projects, including animal care, data collection, and data management.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of research integrity.
Some overnight travel will be required for research-related activities.
Key Responsibilities: * Collect, record, and organize research data accurately and efficiently.
* Assist with daily care and management of swine, including feeding, health monitoring, and general husbandry.
* Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures, animal performance, and other relevant metrics.
* Support research staff in implementing study protocols and ensuring protocol compliance.
* Participate in sample collection, processing, and handling as needed.
* Assist with inventory management, cleaning, and maintenance of animal facilities.
* Travel overnight is required for research-related activities, including farm visits or field studies.
Qualifications and Skills: * High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field preferred.
* Experience working with swine or other livestock is strongly preferred.
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Ability to accurately record and manage data.
* Comfortable performing physical tasks and working in a farm environment.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Willingness to travel as required.
* Basic computer skills, including experience with spreadsheets or data management software.
Working Conditions: * Primarily farm-based work with exposure to livestock and farm environments.
* Physically demanding tasks, including lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods.
* Some overnight travel is required.
