Position Overview
The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for supporting production-critical infrastructure. The position plays a key role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of machinery used in rotor balancing and generator repair. The primary function of the Maintenance Machinist position is to layout work, set up and operate all machine tools such as lathe, Boring mills, vertical milling machines, drill press, etc. Dismantle, fit, and assemble parts in maintaining Power Generation Equipment.
You will troubleshoot, repair, fabricate, and maintain a wide range of industrial equipment including motors, generators, pumps, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, material handling and machining equipment. Your work directly impacts worker safety, equipment reliability, and production efficiency. This is a Safety-Sensitive Position
Essential Functions:
Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment; follow all safety protocols including LOTO and PPE usage.
Analyze mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical problems and make repairs through adjustments, replacement of defective parts, or fabrication.
Fabricate or replicate minor components for repair or replacement of worn/damaged equipment parts.
Wire moderately complex control circuits and troubleshoot electrical control systems.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all plant equipment with a focus on minimizing downtime.
Conduct precision mechanical work including machinery alignment, bearing installation, and gear and shaft fitting.
Use welding, machining, and metal fabrication tools to support maintenance and repair activities.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals to execute maintenance procedures safely and accurately.
Identify and resolve root causes of failures; apply structured problem-solving and document findings.
Generate productivity and continuous improvement ideas to enhance equipment reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and improve safety.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams on equipment upgrades, retrofits, or modifications.
Complete documentation and logs in compliance with internal maintenance systems and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Competencies
Welding and metal fabrication (MIG, TIG, Stick)
Equipment installation and machinery alignment
Use of diagnostic tools: multimeters, clamp meters, dial indicators, vibration analyzers
Reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical diagrams
Pump, seal, valve maintenance and replacement
Hydraulics/pneumatics troubleshooting
Manual machining (lathe, mill, grinder)
Self-starter with strong time management and problem-solving skills
Team-oriented; willing to support other departments when needed
Use of precision measuring Tools (Calipers, Verners, OD mics, ID mics, Pi tapes, Depth gauges, radius and angle gauges, dial indicators)
Use various machines and hand tools to perform tasks involving close tolerances.
Use of electrical test equipment (Fluke meters, Biddle Meggers, Hi-potronic testers, Amp probes, DLRO)
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
· 5 years of verifiable relevant on-the-job experience as a maintenance machinist or have completed two years of post-secondary vocational school in these subjects plus two years of relevant on-the-job experience.
Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift as assigned, plus overtime/weekends
Must be able to pass background check and drug/alcohol testing under Safety-Sensitive job standards

This is a full-time, hourly (non-exempt) position.
