Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a secure corrections oncology unit, requiring Epic charting experience and an active OH or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in a locked corrections oncology Med/Surg Tele unit
Float to various Oncology MS units as needed
Patient population includes inmates with active oncology diagnoses or a history of cancer, as well as patients admitted for other acute conditions
Care provided on both Med/Surg and PCU levels, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 for Med/Surg and 1:3 for PCU
Night shifts, 3x12 hours from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
Weekend shifts vary by unit requirements
Unit access is controlled by Corrections Officers, with a CO to inmate ratio of 1:2
Uses EPIC for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
Provide care for inmates with complex medical and oncology needs, including management of feeding tubes, pre/post-dialysis, and respiratory support devices
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including pharmacy, radiology, PT, and respiratory services
Strict fingerprinting and compliance processes must be completed prior to start
All requested time off must be submitted for contract consideration
Local and travel candidates are accepted at the same rate

Requirements
Active OH or compact RN license in hand
BLS certification required
Epic charting experience required
Minimum education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
Medical-Surgical and Telemetry skills required
Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/PICC/peripheral line management
Competency in interpretation and response to dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
Must provide two professional references, with at least one from a manager, director, or charge RN
Former employees eligible after a six-month break; current employees at Ohio State University hospitals are not eligible
