About the program:
AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
Your responsibilities will include:
Shape the future of Defence capability with AIR6500AIR6500 is a flagship Lockheed Martin Australia (LMA) program that will deliver web-based cloud service systems to connect sensors, operational awareness, and reporting systems—providing a holistic threat response environment for the Royal Australian Air Force.
We are seeking a Senior Integration Engineer to play a critical role in developing and integrating software and ICT solutions that meet demanding technical and quality standards. Working within a collaborative, Agile DevSecOps team, you will lead and contribute to the integration of complex systems that underpin one of Australia’s most important Defence programs.
In this role, you will:
Undertake engineering support activities across software and ICT deliverables, ensuring technical and quality requirements are achieved.
Actively lead the Agile development of complex technical solutions in collaboration with SMEs and the broader team.
Develop software requirements, designs, test rationales, and implement code and unit tests.
Resolve issues during software development, integration, and test phases.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineering staff.
About you:
You will bring a strong track record of success in software integration and systems engineering, combined with excellent problem-solving and leadership skills.
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering and/or equivalent relevant experience in Defence projects.
Significant knowledge of software integration processes, procedures, and full engineering lifecycle.
Strong background in software engineering methodologies and techniques.
Proven experience leading and/or managing small teams to deliver system outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgement and innovative thinking to complex challenges.
Proficiency in languages including Go, TypeScript, Python, Java, and C++.
An active NV-1 security clearance and ability to handle Export Controlled information.
Desirable skills:
Experience with web application frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.
Exposure to geospatial data and visualisation tools (e.g. Cesium, OpenLayers).
Agile software integration experience.
Experience with cloud orchestration platforms (e.g. Kubernetes).
