Ascent Hospitality is looking for a uniquely qualified hospitality leader to be our Area Chief Engineer!

The Area Chief Engineer oversees engineering and maintenance operations for multiple hotel properties, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of building systems, equipment, and infrastructure. This role provides leadership, guidance, and training to property-level engineering teams, enforces preventative maintenance programs, and ensures compliance with brand, company, and safety standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Direct and oversee engineering operations across assigned hotel properties.

Develop, implement, and monitor preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance of equipment and facilities.

Provide training, mentorship, and leadership to Chief Engineers and maintenance teams at each property.

Ensure compliance with company, brand, OSHA, and local/state safety standards.

Coordinate with property management teams to support operational goals and guest satisfaction.

Monitor and control department budgets, including capital projects and operating expenses.

Conduct regular inspections of properties to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.

Partner with vendors and contractors for major repairs or projects as needed.

Respond to emergencies and resolve critical maintenance issues promptly.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance reports.

Foster teamwork and strong communication across all assigned properties.

Perform other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and life-safety systems.

Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to train, motivate, and supervise diverse engineering teams.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Knowledge of regulatory standards, including OSHA, EPA, and local codes.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management software.

Strong customer service skills and ability to interact professionally with guests and Team Members.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regular use of hands, arms, and tools to operate and repair equipment.

Must be able to climb ladders, work at various heights, and access confined spaces.

Routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally more with assistance.

Ability to work in hot, cold, or physically demanding environments.

Must be available for emergencies and able to travel between assigned properties.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school degree preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of engineering/maintenance experience, including 2 years in a leadership role.

Multi-property experience is strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of hotel operations and brand standards.
