Job Number: MAMN0236586-0000 Start Date: 2022-09-01T00:00:00 End Date: 2022-07-13T00:00:00 Description: Title: Long-Term Substitute/Leave Replacement - Family and Consumer Science Teacher Grades 6-8 Teacher Family and Consumer Science Teacher Grades 6-8 - Position Summary:The Mamaroneck Union Free School District seeks a dynamic Family & Consumer Sciences teacher to prepare students for family life, work life, and careers in Family & Consumer Sciences by providing opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors needed for: § Strengthening the well-being of individuals and families across the life span§ Becoming responsible citizens and leaders in family, community, and work settings§ Promoting optimal nutrition and wellness across the life span§ Managing resources to meet the material needs of individuals and families§ Balancing personal, home, family, and work lives§ Using critical and creative thinking skills to address challenges in diverse family, community, and work environments§ Successful life management, employment, and career development§ Functioning effectively as providers and consumers of goods and services§ Appreciating human worth and accepting responsibility for one's actions and successes in family and work life§ Establishes explicit connections in the curriculum around science, food, sustainability and recycling and consumer behaviors and products.

Essential Functions: · Maintain a philosophy and mission that reflect the intellectual and developmental needs and characteristics of young adolescents.

· Design an educational program that is comprehensive, challenging, purposeful, integrated, and standards-based.· Establish a classroom environment that supports both academic excellence and personal development.· Design classroom instruction appropriate to the needs and characteristics of young adolescents.Build a depth of understanding and ability in an area of study: human services and family studies, food and nutrition, textiles and designEncourage and teach students about the importance of sustainability and food waste reduction.

Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
