Associated Students (AS) is a comprehensive campus auxiliary corporation of CSU, Chico serving thousands of students, faculty, staff and community members through myriad student programs, services and business enterprises. AS operates residential and retail dining services, the Bell Memorial Union (BMU), and the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC). Additionally, the AS offers a wide variety of services and programs such as: CAVE (Community Action Volunteers in Education), the Child Development Lab, Adventure Outings, Operation Programs and Services (OPS), Sustainability and student government.
Associated Students is now hiring for the position of AS Sustainability Events Student Assistant. This is a part-time, non-benefited student position that will work no more than 20 hours per week while school is in session. The pay rate is $16.50 per hour. The schedule for this position is based upon department needs and is subject to change at any time. To be eligible for student employment, you must be enrolled at CSU, Chico and maintain at least 6 units (undergraduate student) or 4 units (graduate student) throughout the course of employment. SUMMARY
The role focuses on sustainable event planning and program leadership, and coordinating with campus and community sustainability partners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Identify and implement new ways to make events within the campus sustainable
Consult with AS programs, SLL, and SFL, and campus entities on event sustainability (e.g., Summer O, Wildcat Welcome, Choose Chico)
Plan AS Sustainability events with the AS Events and Programs team.
Advise AS entities on sustainability best practices.
Recruit, manage, and evaluate campus projects with the campus sustainability committee.
Facilitate regular intern meetings for upcoming projects and events, and program scope.
Help with large events and office upkeep (storage, inventory, and free store)
Assist with organizing, planning, and facilitating Creek Clean Ups.
Attend weekly Sustainability Program meetings and hold regular office hours.
Other duties as assigned.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a typical office environment with prolonged periods of work on a computer and regular contact with others. Participation in various activities, events, meetings and/or retreats on or off campus which may include evenings and/or weekends may be required.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
This is primarily an office-based position with some movement around campus when assisting with events. Students should be able to walk to different campus locations and occasionally lift and carry items up to 30 lbs. (event materials, signage, etc.). Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; verbal and written communication.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated interest in sustainability, event planning, community engagement, or related fields.
Familiarity with sustainability practices in events (water reduction, compositing, sustainable procurement, etc.)
Ability to work collaboratively with student groups, staff, and external partners.
Strong organizational and team experience.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Current Chico State student enrolled in a minimum of 6 undergraduate units or 4 graduate units.
Preferred Requirements:
Prior experience with event coordination or supporting student clubs/programs.
