An ambitious and forward-thinking Local Authority in Hampshire is looking for an experienced Principal Policy Planner to join their team on a fixed-term contract through to March 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a policy planning professional with strong local plan experience and an interest in shaping the future of major regeneration projects. The team is passionate about delivering high-quality places and progressing a dynamic planning agenda.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and contribute to the preparation and delivery of the Local Plan
Provide expert policy advice to internal teams, councillors, and external stakeholders
Input into regeneration schemes and town centre strategies
Support evidence base development and policy monitoring
Represent the council at public consultations, hearings and external meetings
About You:
Proven experience in planning policy, ideally within a local authority setting
Strong understanding of the UK planning system and local plan process
Exposure to or experience with regeneration projects
Ability to manage competing priorities and lead on complex policy matters
RTPI accredited or working towards accreditation
