The Custodial Worker serves as a vital member of the custodial team, performing routine cleaning and maintenance duties across various campus buildings. Under the general supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, this role ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

Clean and maintain floors, furniture, fixtures, and entrance door glass

Dispose of trash and recyclables appropriately

Operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively

Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas including restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common spaces

Follow safety protocols and handle hazardous materials as needed

Perform duties in various weather conditions and environments

Physical Requirements:

Constant standing, walking, and gripping

Frequent kneeling, stooping, crouching, squatting, and reaching

Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying (30–50 pounds)

Ability to work in confined spaces and around hazardous materials

May be required to work overtime and flexible hours

Qualifications:

Required:

High School Diploma or GED

Valid driver’s license

Successful completion of a background check

Preferred:

Knowledge of safety practices in custodial work

Experience operating cleaning equipment

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Additional Information:

This position is a Communications Workers of America (CWA).

The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications
