Position Overview:
The Soft Wheat Quality Laboratory is seeking a Research Assistant to support ongoing lab activities related to cereal grain biochemistry and quality evaluation. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in agricultural or food science research and a passion for laboratory work.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct routine and recurring quality evaluations of wheat grains using specialized equipment and standardized methods
Collect, prepare, and verify samples and associated records; maintain accurate documentation and compile data
Assist in various phases of the research process in laboratory, field, or greenhouse settings
Perform general lab maintenance including cleaning workspaces, washing glassware, preparing buffers and solutions, and caring for equipment
Interpret datasets, summarize results, and generate descriptive and informative figures
Training & Supervision:
The Research Assistant will receive guidance, direction, and training from the Principal Investigator (PI) and senior lab personnel to ensure successful execution of assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
At least 1 year of relevant experience in a cereal grain biochemistry or quality evaluation laboratory (or similar environment)
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols
Effective communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Food Science, Agronomy, Biochemistry)
Experience with laboratory instrumentation and data analysis tools
