Unit: 8 BSH Neuro Surgery – PCU/Stepdown
Patient Ratio: 1:4
Requirements
Experience: Minimum 2 years recent PCU experience (MS/Tele or Neuro Stepdown acceptable).
Licensure: Valid OH RN or Compact RN license in hand at submission.
Certifications:
Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
Charting: Epic experience required.
Travel Experience: Preferred but not required.
References: 2 professional references (1 must be a supervisor/manager).
Responsibilities & Skills
Provide care for post-neurosurgery and neuro stepdown patients.
Manage cardiac drips (titration required), IV therapy, arterial lines, central lines, EVD monitoring (hard stop).
Care for patients with CVA, traumatic brain injury, seizure disorders, and spinal cord injuries.
Float to like units within the OSU organization as needed.
Unit Details
Beds: 29
Support Services: IV Teams, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response, Pharmacy.
Common Procedures: Lumbar drains, EVD monitoring (mandatory skill).
Orientation: 24 paid hours onsite.
Scheduling: Self-scheduling with up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.
Special Notes
Floating: Required within OSU organization.
RTO: Must be declared at submission.
Locals: Accepted at same rate.
Compliance: Ohio fingerprinting required before start—candidates must act quickly after booking.
Vaccines:
COVID-19: Not required.
Flu: Required (medical exemptions only).
