Job Summary:

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care in a progressive care (stepdown) unit within an acute care setting. This role requires a nurse with strong cardiac and stepdown unit experience, capable of managing complex cardiovascular patients and post-surgical care.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in a 44-bed cardiac stepdown unit, including those recovering from cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgeries.

Manage patient care for a variety of cardiac conditions including CABG, pacemaker and AICD care, heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-op cardiovascular procedures.

Monitor and titrate drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, and heparin.

Interpret cardiac telemetry strips and respond to changes in patient condition.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacy, and IV teams.

Participate in float duties to ICU for stepdown patients only, unless ICU experience is documented and approved.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation utilizing MEDITECH EMR.

Skills Required:

Active and current RN license.

Minimum 2 years of experience in an acute care stepdown or progressive care unit.

Certification in BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred.

Proficiency in managing cardiac drips and telemetry monitoring, including ECG strip interpretation.

Experience with cardiac patient populations such as post-CABG, thoracotomies, VATS, EVARs, pacemakers, AICDs, arrhythmias, and CHF.

Ability or willingness to learn pacer wire removal.

Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover (32-38 patients per shift).

Flexibility to work holidays and every other weekend.

Required Documents:

Current Registered Nurse (RN) License.

AHA - BLS, ACLS
