Position: Chief Operating Officer

Location: Golden, CO (Hybrid, with at least 4 days in the office per week) Remote considered for exceptional candidates

Salary Range: $200,000 - $280,000 annually plus generous performance-based bonus plan

Reports to: CEO/Owner

Direct Reports: 3-5 business leaders

Position Summary

We're looking for a strategic, hands-on Chief Operating Officer to serve as our integrator and organizational driver. This role combines executive leadership, operational excellence, and technical acumen to optimize our business processes, lead our leadership team, and drive sustainable growth. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, excels at building high-performing teams, and has deep experience leveraging technology to solve complex business problems.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Team Management

Lead and develop a team of 3-5 business leaders, ensuring alignment and accountability across all business functions

Design organizational structure and identify gaps in management and operational efficiency

Implement goal-setting frameworks and KPIs for all team members and departments

Foster a culture of data-driven decision making, proactive & strategic problem-solving, rapid execution, and celebrating success

Coach and mentor leadership team to enhance their effectiveness and accountability

Operational Excellence

Oversee day-to-day operations of all business segments with focus on efficiency and profitability

Design and implement operational workflows and process improvements

Apply rapid prototyping mindset: deliver value quickly while building toward long-term solutions

Identify patterns in operational challenges and implement systematic solutions

Technical Operations Leadership

Partner with technical teams to ensure software development aligns with business objectives

Evaluate technical team performance and effectiveness, implementing improvements as needed

Leverage technology and data to create competitive advantages

Champion the integration of AI and automation to streamline development and operations

Business Strategy & Execution

Translate CEO’s vision into actionable strategic plans and measurable goals

Design and implement risk mitigation strategies based on an evaluation of both external (industry, economy) and internal (within the business) risks

Drive profit growth across all business segments

Ensure successful completion of short-term and long-term strategic initiatives

Align workforce capabilities with company growth goals and operational requirements through strategic oversight of talent acquisition and team development initiatives

Create and maintain accountability systems for leadership team performance

Required Qualifications

5+ years in senior leadership roles with P&L responsibility

Proven track record managing technical teams and evaluating software development effectiveness

Strong background in process improvement and operational efficiency and optimization

Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing teams

Excellent analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision making

Outstanding communication skills with ability to influence and align teams

Track record of driving measurable business results (revenue growth, profit, cost reduction, efficiency gains)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) or similar business management frameworks

Background in A-Method hiring or structured talent acquisition approaches

Six Sigma or similar process improvement certification

Experience in e-commerce or high-volume transaction environments

Technical background with understanding of software development lifecycle

What Success Looks Like

90 Days: Complete business model assessment, identify improvement opportunities, advance inherited initiatives

6 Months: Implement cost-saving initiatives, improve team effectiveness, drive measurable profit improvements

1 Year: Achieve YOY profit growth targets, increase team engagement, reduce cost-to-revenue ratios, establish consistent goal achievement across all teams
