Description
Job Summary:
As a Counselor at Basecamp Recovery Center, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey. You will conduct clinical assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and provide both individual and group counseling services. Your goal will be to help clients achieve and maintain sobriety, enhance their overall well-being, and successfully reintegrate into their communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Uphold the Mission Statement of Basecamp Recovery Center.
Actively participate in daily morning huddles, team meetings, general staff meetings, and management meetings as scheduled.
Establish and maintain professional, supportive relationships with clients and staff.
Adhere to all agency policies, procedures, ethical codes, client rights regulations, and applicable local and state laws.
Provide high-quality individual and group substance use and mental health services in accordance with agency policies.
Remain current on research, best practices, and advancements in substance use and mental health treatment.
Participate in ongoing professional development, supervision, and continuing education to enhance clinical skills.
Maintain an assigned caseload, continually observing and evaluating clients for risk, including lethality, and responding promptly to crises, relapses, or mental health concerns.
Conduct thorough intake assessments using standardized tools and clinical interviews to assess substance use history, mental health status, and client needs.
Deliver prevention, consultation, and educational services to clients and community organizations as assigned by the Clinical Director.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation including treatment plans, group notes, and progress notes.
Assume caseloads of fellow counselors during absences due to illness, emergencies, or vacations, as needed.
Serve as a liaison between Basecamp and external community resources to address client needs and ensure continuity of care.
Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends to accommodate client schedules.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)
Strong decision-making and crisis intervention abilities
Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities
Capacity to connect and communicate with individuals from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
In-depth understanding of addiction, recovery processes, and evidence-based treatment models
Compassionate, patient, and non-judgmental approach when working with clients
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field
Active and valid state licensure (LPC, LSW, LMFT, or equivalent)
Prior experience working with individuals with substance use disorders is preferred
Preferred Skills:
Certification in substance abuse counseling (e.g., CDCA, LCDC, CADC, MAC) or willingness to obtain
Experience working with diverse populations and providing culturally competent care
Familiarity with local community resources and referral systems
