GENERAL SUMMARY

Perform complex case management of all assigned youth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

Review and process law enforcement referrals.

Perform intake interviews, conduct assessments, prepare dispositions, and formulate case plans.

Appear and testify in court as necessary.

Provide supervision of youth which may include office visits, home visits, school visits, and curfew checks, and monitor compliance with terms of supervision.

Interact with youth, families, victims, court personnel, law enforcement personnel, school officials, attorneys, community agencies, and mental health professionals.

Coordinate referrals for services as needed by youth and families.

Maintain case files and documentation, and prepare related records and reports.

Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to law enforcement referrals and crisis intervention situations.

Perform other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Be a US Citizen.

Be at least 21 years of age.

Possess a valid Texas Driver's License.

Meet criminal history employment guidelines as provided by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).

Have acquired a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Have 1 year (18 hours) of graduate study coursework OR 1 year related work experience as approved by TJJD.

Satisfactorily complete Juvenile Probation Officer Basic Training and participate in continuing education to maintain certification as required by TJJD.
