The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking a Technical Specialist contractor analyst/designer/developer (>10 years experience) for a 12-month engagement for the Engineering Application Services Department (EAS) to enhance a series of Java, C/C++ and asp.net/C# interfaces on an application for the department called HiCAMS. The initial assignment will be to solve a Java-related upgrade compatibility problem in our Red Hat Enterprise Linux server environment between RHEL 7.0 and RHEL 8.0. Our Java interfaces fail after the RHEL update.

REQUIRED/DESIRED SKILLS

Skills Required/

Desired Experience

Significant development experience in Java, particularly solving library and compatibility issues between versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Required 10 Years

Strong SQL skills (HiCAMS uses a Sybase database but SQL skills in any database platform are acceptable) Required 10 Years

Experience working in a remote software development environment Required 5 Years

Strong analytical, conceptual, and technical skills Required 10 Years

Positive interpersonal skills coupled with an independent, self-motivated work ethic Required 10 Years

Proven written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain business processes to IT users and IT applications to business user Required 10 Years

Experience coding stored procedures and triggers (any database) Nice to have 5 Years
