RN – Oncology (Chemo Certified)

Location: 460 W 10th Ave, Rm 224, Columbus, OH 43210

Shift: Nights, 3x12-Hour (19:00 – 07:30) 36 hrs/week

Unit Details:

Unit: 16 James Hematology Oncology (Med Surg Unit)

Ratios: Goal 1:4, may be 1:5

Orientation:

Week 1: Mon–Fri, Days

Week 2: 36 hrs on-unit with preceptor

Scheduling: No block scheduling; self-schedule requests considered

Floating: To other Med/Surg & Oncology units

Patient Population:

Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma

Acute & Chronic Leukemias

Sickle Cell Disease

Other non-hem cancers & benign hematology

Procedures & Special Care:

Chemotherapy & Blood Transfusions

IV Antibiotics

Oncologic Emergencies: Tumor lysis syndrome, Cytokine release syndrome

Insulin & Heparin drips

Central/PICC line management & peripheral IV starts

Infection prevention & fall precautions

Requirements:

Experience: Oncology RN with chemo competency

Certifications (Required):

BLS (AHA)

ACLS (AHA)

ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification

Skills:

Med Surg/Tele & dysrhythmia interpretation

Telemetry monitoring (on-unit)

Rapid Response participation

Blood product administration

IV therapy, phlebotomy, feeding tube care

Charting System: Epic
