Beveridge & Diamond, P.C. seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This role supports the firm’s day-to-day financial operations across seven U.S. offices while contributing to process improvements, compliance, and scalable financial reporting. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of accounting experience (preferably in a law firm or professional services), strong analytical skills, and the drive to grow into a Senior Accountant role. Key Responsibilities

Reconcile monthly bank statements timely and accurately

Maintain, analyze, and update general ledger entries

Assist in posting transactions to the general ledger

Perform general ledger account reviews and reconciliations, including identifying, investigating and resolving misclassifications or errors

Maintain and update the General Ledger Chart of Accounts

Assist with month-end and year-end closings, including journal entries, account reconciliations and account analysis

Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset subledger, including recording additions, disposals, monthly depreciation, and supporting fixed asset tax reporting and compliance.

Prepare and initiate ACH and wire transfers for cash disbursements, ensuring accuracy, proper authorization, and compliance with firm policies.

Coordinate and prepare state and local tax filings, including business license taxes, sales and use taxes, and property tax filings across multiple jurisdictions

Monitor tax deadlines, maintain compliance calendars, and ensure timely filing and documentation

Support external tax advisors during annual tax return preparation and review of financial statements

Reconcile and ensure compliance for trust/IOLTA accounts

Prepare financial reports and assist with responses to audits, surveys, and tax filings

Assist in reviewing and developing SOPs and process workflows for automation, efficiency, standardization and consistency

Assist with annual budgeting process

Perform research on tax issues affecting the firm and summarize findings for leadership

Utilize information and summarize financial reports to better understand the firm’s financial position and provide meaningful data to firm management.

Provide ad hoc reporting (including tax reporting), analysis, and special projects

Identify and recommend opportunities to leverage technology, automation, and AI tools to improve finance analysis, reporting, workflows and compliance processesRequirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with preference for professional service

Experience working as a Staff Accountant in a medium to large law firm (50+ lawyers, a plus) or substantial work experience in the required essential accounting deliverables as are noted above

Strong working knowledge of general ledger and reconciliations

Strong understanding of multi-jurisdictional tax compliance, including payroll, and business tax

Proven experience with accounting principles, tax reporting, and trust accounting

Advanced Excel skills required (e.g., VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, SUMIFS, pivot tables, data analysis)

Experience with Elite 3E (strongly preferred), Aderant, or other legal accounting platforms

Experience working in a multi-office or multi-state environment is preferred

High attention to detail, ability to self-review, and commitment to accuracy

Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

Demonstrated ability to adopt and apply technology to improve accounting processes; experience with automation or AI-powered tools is a plus

Work Environment

Hybrid model with a minimum of three in-office days per week.

Compensation

In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, the base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. The compensation for this position may also include discretionary performance and productivity bonuses.
