QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 3 years full time commissioned or one commissioned with a bachelor's degree
Graduate of Basic Law Enforcement Officer Training Program (full-time only part-time or reserve basic is not acceptable) and the Mississippi Department of Education School Resource Officer Basic Course
Good physical condition with the ability to lift 10 pounds
REPORTS TO: Superintendent and Gentry High School/Thomas Edwards High School Principals
SUPERVISES: School Resource Officers, in conjunction with Principals
JOB GOAL: The safety supervisor advises the superintendent, staff, principals and supervisors who are responsible for the district's safety plan and monitors the implementation of the safety plan tracking measurable improvements. The safety director assists with the effective behavioral development of students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure the safety of students and staff at Gentry High School and Thomas Edwards High School
Create a district wide safety plan for North or South End of the County and submit for Board approval
Support SROs on their respective ends in ensuring safety of students and staff at their prospective schools
Establish a structure and process for administering a district-wide safety plan
Review incident investigations reports for content, and assist when needed
Provide timely reports to the superintendent and the district safety committee
Attend all school board meetings
Work with principals to oversee School Resource Officers in the schools.
Ensure all SROs are compliant
Assist with all extracurricular events
Secure security workers for school/district events
Receive all bullying reports and disseminate student names to SSOs/SROs, counselor and principals
Collect and maintain documentation of efforts from SSOs/SROs and counselors on student names submitted
Report monthly to Board on bullying reporting
Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as requested by his/her supervisor
