What You’ll Do:

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Emergency Medical Services

Report In Location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223

Work Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00PM

Under general supervision of Investigation Supervisor 1 within Emergency Medical Services (EMS), relieve superior of routine administrative duties, makes recommendations regarding program activities & assists in developing new procedures related to established program policy:

Assists with EMS investigation program through routine & administrative duties to support case investigations & compliance follow-up;

Reviews, researches, analyzes, evaluates &/or compiles information; Prepares written reports of findings &/or recommendations & submits to supervisor;

Makes recommendations & transmits decisions to investigations staff;

Formats & types reports of investigations from interview tape recordings, written copies & confidential notes;

Performs word processing & other clerical duties in support of investigative staff; Types notices regarding hearings, adjudication orders & subpoenas;

Prepares & maintains manuals such as disciplinary procedures & investigative process;

Maintains database for complaint tracking;

Prepares subpoenas; Proofreads technical & non-technical material;

Maintains files of cases; Compiles & evaluates information gathered & prepares written report of findings &/or recommendations & submits preliminary information to supervisor;

Verifies information given by parties; Prepares letters to request or verify information; Gathers documentation, records & other evidence;

Prepares PowerPoints for presentation of case findings;

Receive hearing requests & schedule administrative hearings for cases;

Provides routine information & assistance via telephone or in person to internal & external customers for the purpose of responding to inquiries, requests &/or complaints;

Responds to inquiries regarding procedures for applying for EMT &/or firefighter certification & test registration;

Utilizes database to research certification status;

Provides information on the EMS certification process;

Performs other related duties as assigned (i.e., opens, logs, sorts, & routes mail &/or faxes, updates database, types forms &/or other routine documents; files information).

18 mos. exp. or 18 mos. trg. in secretarial/administrative professional field.

-Or completion of associate core coursework in secretarial science or business office applications from accredited career school or community college.

-Or 6 mos. exp. as Administrative Professional 1, 16871.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
