About the Project: The Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package encompasses the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of key project components.
The Project Estimator will play a key role in the successful delivery of the ECWE Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) Project by preparing, analyzing, and managing cost estimates for all phases of construction.
This role requires strong knowledge of heavy civil, transit, and rail infrastructure projects, with expertise in station construction, tunneling interfaces, systems integration, and rail works.
The Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, procurement, and subcontractors to ensure competitive, accurate, and comprehensive cost proposals.
Prepare detailed estimates for stations, rail, and systems scope, including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, communications, and trackwork.
Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to develop quantity take-offs, labor, equipment, and material pricing.
Analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations for accuracy, scope alignment, and competitiveness.
Develop conceptual, preliminary, and definitive cost estimates during design and construction phases.
Support risk assessments, value engineering, and constructability reviews to optimize costs and mitigate risks.
Coordinate with scheduling and project controls teams to align cost estimates with project timelines.
Maintain and update historical cost data, benchmarking, and market analysis for future use.
Prepare bid proposals and support negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
Provide cost support to change management, claims, and forecasting during construction execution.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
Minimum 5–10 years of estimating experience in large-scale transit, rail, or heavy civil infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of stations, rail systems, and multidisciplinary interfaces.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Sage, HeavyBid, or similar), Microsoft Excel, and scheduling tools.
Familiarity with Metrolinx/IO standards, Ontario Building Code, and local market conditions.
Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced project environment.
