The Disability Services Program Assistant assists with the administration of Accessible Media services to Ohio State University students with disabilities in accordance with federal law section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). Assists with the management of acquiring, producing and distributing accessible course materials; creates time lines for production for both caption and text materials; trains and directs media/lab assistant student staff on the conversion processes; assists with the management of Accessible Media and Captioning email boxes and responds or forwards emails on, as appropriate; troubleshoots problems, and ensures that students’ needs are met; maintains confidential information and records; documents communication with and regarding students, courses and instructors in departmental database. Assist with direct supervision of student lab assistant and media employees; ensures student staff’s compliance with all policies and procedures, performs generalist functions within the overall office and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required: High school diploma or equivalent; 1 year of relevant experience; experience working in a high volume and detail-oriented environment; experience providing customer service; experience or training handling confidential information; strong analytical and problem solving skills; effective organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines; extensive knowledge and operation of computer and basic office technology/equipment and MS Office 365 programs. Successful completion of background check.
Desired: Certification or vocational training, 2 to 4 years experience working in a higher education setting, setting serving individuals with physical, psychological, or learning disabilities; experience creating and remediating accessible digital content; demonstrated experience working with individuals with disabilities.

This role is a temporary role, not to extend 1 full year of employment.
Targeted hiring range is $15.86. to $20.74/hr. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the selected candidate’s qualifications.
