**Job Summary**

The Sustainability & Government Affairs Communications Manager is responsible for executing internal and external communications strategies that support NiSource's sustainability priorities and government affairs initiatives. This role ensures the development of compelling, data-driven content that tells the NiSource sustainability story, strengthens relationships with key stakeholders and enhances the company's reputation across all jurisdictions. This role will also play a pivotal role in strategy and communications for the NiSource Charitable Foundation.

**Essential Functions**

+ Develops and executes communications plans to support our sustainability and government affairs objectives.

+ Supports company officers and senior executives by driving leadership communications that support business priorities.

+ Serves as NiSource Charitable Foundation’s communications strategist, leading its annual signature event and executing its annual communications plan.

+ Project manage the development of our sustainability report and communication-related responses to investor and rating agency inquiries.

+ Serves as a media on-call representative for our NIPSCO/Columbia Gas operating companies.

**Required Qualifications For Position**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Communications, journalism, public policy or related field.

+ 7-9 years Demonstrated experience in communications, public affairs, or sustainability-related roles with demonstrated success across internal and external channels.

+ 1-3 years Demonstrated experience managing sustainability or government affairs communications.

+ 1-3 years Demonstrated experience developing executive communication plans.

+ 1-3 years Experience collaborating across departments and engaging with senior leadership.

+ 1-3 years Experience managing crisis communications and navigating sensitive issues with professionalism and integrity.

+ Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks, stakeholder expectations and sustainability reporting standards. Medium

+ Understanding of regulations and principles specific to communications for a publicly traded company. Medium

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling narratives and strategic messages. High

+ Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work independently with minimal direction. High

+ Demonstrated attention to detail, with the ability to understand and communicate complex issues clearly and accurately. High High

**Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position**

+ Master's Degree in a related field.

**Salary Range

$110,200.00 - $165,300.00
