2nd Officer/DP Operator

Responsible for operating the DP system as per operational requirements.

• Responsible for the continual on-duty scheme in the DP control room.

• Ensure that all DP system data is recorded.

• Assist in the setup of the DP system operating parameters.

• Assist in performing maintenance on DP equipment.

• Assist in carrying out frequent inspections on DP system sensors, computers, and references.

• Should be familiar with and implement IMCA requirements related to the DP system.

Skills Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent nautical science degree/diploma.

• Minimum qualification required is Chief Mate FG COC II/2 with no limitations.

• Full and unlimited DP certificates from the Nautical Institute.

• Holding an IMCA DP logbook in which DP experience is recorded.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a DPO/2nd officer on DP vessels in the same capacity.

• Good English communication skills.

• Good knowledge of safe practices related to DP operations.

• Capable of correcting nautical charts and keeping publications updated.

• Knowledge of preparing passage plans for intended voyages.

• Knowledge of bridge equipment and DP systems.

• Responsible to the SDPO for reporting any malfunctions of the DP system. #J-18808-Ljbffr
