Safety Tips: This position requires staying alert and reacting immediately to changing situations. Also requires operating fork/man lifts, changing batteries, handling chemicals, lifting over 50lbs, lockout/tagout procedures, confined space work. Listed below are some recommended safety tips.
Keep work area clear of debris and trip hazards
Maintain a clean work area by sweeping floors
Keep hands and clothing away from moving parts and machinery
Use proper lifting techniques when handling boxes and bags of bulk ingredients
Know the location of all emergency stop controls in the area
Do not climb on or over equipment or stand on anything with wheels on its base
Become familiar with the sound of the machinery. Out of the ordinary noises may alert you to potential equipment trouble
Notify your supervisor promptly with any concerns or problems with product, equipment or safety
Never try to activate machinery that has been locked out/tagged out
Moving full pan carts can be extremely dangerous. Exercise great caution when moving full carts as they are very heavy. Seek assistance when necessary to prevent injury. Be aware as sudden stopping and starting of the cart may cause pan stacks to tip and fall
To prevent injury do not stack pans higher than 5 feet off the floor
Wear the recommended personal protective equipment to prevent discomfort and injury (i.e. dust masks, back support belts, goggles, gloves, safety harness, etc.)
Forklift certification is required for this job. All safety procedures and precautions must be adhered to when operating forklifts
Controlling Factors and Job Responsibilities: This job requires forklift skills and encompasses a broad range of duties that include but are not limited to:
Being able to operate corrugated bailer
Alerting the QA department of any damaged or open ingredient bags or boxes and to any ingredients that have lot numbers or codes that are not legible. DO NOT USE THESE INGREDIENTS
Observing and complying with all posted GMP's, both plant wide and job specific
Receive incoming/bulk ingredients and materials
Enter ingredients into SAP
Load skids and pallets on outbound trailers
Follow and complete SSOP's from the master sanitation schedule
Understand and follow storage practice procedures
Performing additional jobs as assigned by management
