The Los Angeles Times is looking for a temporary reporter to join Image magazine. The magazine has built a devoted readership and reputation for authentic, elevated storytelling on fashion, art, design and more.

Image is looking for a reporter familiar with fashion brands who is comfortable collaborating with freelance contributors and departments across the newsroom to produce high-quality stories. The reporter will be expected to develop assignments and liaise with a broad range of contributors. Experience in working on photoshoots will be taken into account.

This reporter will also have some duties organizing production schedules, working closely with the editors.

Responsibilities:

Write stories for publication

Research and develop story ideas and subjects

Coordinate with editorial staff, including photo, design and copy desks, to produce stories online and in print

Collaborate with talent for photo shoots, updating correspondence and scheduling meetings as needed

Assist with fact checking, fashion credits, and scheduling stories

Assist with social media needs

Help develop and contribute to new magazine initiatives, including cross-departmental collaborations with events and marketing

Requirements:

A minimum of three years of experience in writing

Familiarity with fashion and style

A deep understanding of the cultural conversation in Los Angeles and beyond

Strong instincts around social media strategy

High level of professionalism, including demonstrated commitment to accuracy, fairness and integrity

A team player eager to pitch in as needed

Experience with project management and/or creative production is a plus

This temporary position is expected to last six months and will be based in El Segundo, Calif. Some night and weekend work is expected. Reporters must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle in good working condition, with suitable auto insurance coverage. The pay scale the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting is $33.81 to $39.10 and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, experience, training, licenses, certifications, and other business or organizational needs. Compensation will be determined based on the above factors along with the requirements of the position. At the L.A.
