Description
Adjunct Faculty within the College of Professional Studies (CPS) are critical to the success of UNE's online programs. The role of the faculty in CPS is to facilitate the learning process for online students through timely and effective instruction and communication. Instructors also serve as mentors, sharing their experience to help guide students and ensure they achieve their educational and professional goals. The faculty facilitates the retention of students through creating a positive educational environment, allowing for students to derive the maximum benefits from the program in which they are enrolled. Instructors will receive supervision, collaboration, and guidance from the UNE Online Master of Biomedical Science (MBS) Program.
Responsibilities
Provide expert and graduate level knowledge in Genomics.
Guide students through their educational experience while upholding and adhering to the CPS commitment to student success.
Provide timely response to student inquiries, within 24 hours.
Facilitate class instruction by engaging in the online course portal a minimum of 5 times per week.
Hosti a minimum of one hour of virtual office hours per week.
Post weekly announcements to enhance course content.
Have excellent collaborative and communication skills.
Analyze best practices in online education.
Qualifications
Experience teaching online in an educational setting, with demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and assessment, and a passion for teaching Genomics.
Master's degree in a related field; Ph.D. preferred.
Minimum of three years of teaching experience in the area of Genomics.
Strong desire to motivate and encourage students in academic and professional settings.
Expertise in online teaching and willingness to learn and apply new technological approaches to education.
Experience using the Brightspace/D2L Learning Management System.
