Process Engineer – Automotive Manufacturing
We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer with a strong background in automotive Body-in-White (BIW) processing to lead the development and execution of efficient manufacturing solutions tailored to customer requirements. This role requires deep expertise in process design, manufacturing engineering, and equipment evaluation to support the launch and optimization of production systems.
The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 2 years of experience in automotive BIW processing, including knowledge of automated manufacturing, joining technologies, and simulation tools such as Siemens NX and Process Designer.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate customer product specifications to develop manufacturing process plans that meet cost, quality, and timeline objectives.
Lead all aspects of process development, including system layout, cycle time analysis, ergonomic assessments, and process verification.
Analyze and implement joining requirements (e.g., welding, Self-Piercing Rivets (SPR), TOX).
Select and validate appropriate joining equipment, while preparing spare parts lists, technical documentation, and user manuals.
Work collaboratively with Throughput Simulation and Robot Simulation teams to ensure process feasibility.
Interpret automotive product drawings, schematics, and manufacturing specifications.
Apply ergonomic principles to support operator safety and efficiency.
Create and maintain process documentation, including progress reports, quotes, and cost estimations.
Ensure adherence to safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality systems both in-house and at customer sites.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in cross-functional teams to enhance system performance.
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, customers, and project teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2+ years of experience in automotive BIW processing or automated manufacturing systems.
Proficiency with NX and Process Designer (Siemens software suite).
Strong understanding of process simulation, ergonomic design, and cycle time optimization.
Ability to interpret technical documents, including safety rules, schematic drawings, and procedure manuals.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to customers, teams, and stakeholders.
Strong analytical and mathematical capabilities, including knowledge of advanced math concepts such as logarithms, statistical analysis, and variance analysis.
Solid problem-solving and critical thinking skills to assess and improve process performance.
