Job Description:
TITLE: AV Systems Repair Technician
DEPARTMENT: IT

SCHEDULE: 15 hours per week
POSITION LEVEL: Non-Supervisory
General Statement of Duties:
The Information Technologies Department at Worcester State University is seeking a dedicated student worker to support the maintenance and repair of classroom AV equipment. This role involves responding to help desk tickets, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring classroom AV systems operate effectively to support academic instruction. This is an excellent opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience with AV technology and develop technical and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
Respond to help desk tickets related to classroom AV equipment, including troubleshooting projectors, speakers, controllers, and PCs.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues with AV systems, ensuring minimal disruption to classroom activities.
Perform routine maintenance and inspections of AV equipment to maintain functionality.
Assist with basic repairs and system configurations using standard hand tools.
Communicate effectively with faculty and staff to address AV-related concerns and provide updates on ticket resolutions.
Document ticket details, including issues identified and solutions implemented.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Current enrollment as a student at Worcester State University (required).
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide excellent customer service.
Familiarity with PCs and AV equipment (preferred but not required; training provided).
Experience using basic hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, pliers) is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 40 lbs) and work in various classroom settings.
