Job Overview : Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Postpartum for a 13-week night shift assignment. Nurses must be skilled in postpartum care, newborn assessment, and family-centered care practices.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of postpartum nursing experience
EPIC charting experience preferred
IV start and medication administration experience required
Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience preferred
Previous travel nursing experience preferred
Certifications:
Required: BLS, NRP
Preferred: IV certification
Licensure:
Must have an active compact or Ohio RN license at the time of submission
Education:
Must be a graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
Skills & Competencies
Postpartum Care & Procedures:
Vaginal and Cesarean Section recovery
Fundus/lochia/perineum assessments
Episiotomy/incision care
Bladder assessments & Foley catheter insertion
Breastfeeding support and use of breast pumps
Postpartum complications: hemorrhage, PIH, wound infections
Newborn Care:
Newborn assessment and thermoregulation
Cord care, metabolic screening, phototherapy
Care for infants with: NAS, low birth weight, hypoglycemia
Discharge education and circumcision care teaching
Medication & Administration:
IV therapy, starting & maintaining IVs
Administering Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, antihypertensives
Pain management including opioids
Work Settings:
Postpartum Unit
Level 1 Nursery (preferred experience)
Patient Information
Daily Census: 60 patients
Patient Ratio (Nights): 1:3-4 dyads (6-8 patients)
Age Groups: Neonates, Adults
Support & Resources
Interdisciplinary team includes IV Team, PT, Social Services, Rapid Response Team, Pharmacy, and more
Unit Secretary support available
