The Office of Transformation
As an initiative of ODJFS Director Matt Damschroder, the Office of Transformation partners with programs and employees throughout the agency to enhance internal and external customers’ experiences, enrich employees’ experiences through participation in transformation initiatives, and promote an environment for everyone at ODJFS to get better at what we do every day. Transformation initiatives are agency-wide or program specific, team-based, and cross-functional to include staff across program offices and at all levels.
Our customers are those who need our services, conduct business with us, partner with us to serve our shared customers, fund our services and agency, care about what we do, and ODJFS colleagues who are internal customers.
What You’ll Do
The Transformation Projects Coordinator is responsible for coordinating transformation projects across the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS). Reporting to the Deputy Chief Transformation Officer, this position involves coordinating projects that span all phases of project management, including integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resource, communication, risk, and procurement management.
Key Responsibilities
Process Improvement Projects: Coordinate with program leadership to identify, recommend, develop, and manage projects addressing critical business needs.
Human-Centered Design Projects: Schedule, implement, track, and interpret projects to collect feedback and conduct user testing of communications, notifications, web pages, systems, and other customer interactions.
Plain Language Writing and Training: Assist with implementing plain language writing and training projects to support agency programs and initiatives.
Organizational Change Management: Research and determine methods to align organizational change management practices with transformation projects.
Internal Consulting: Act as an internal consultant to improve services, engage employees in solutions, and streamline processes to enhance the overall customer experience.
Continual Improvement Initiatives: Drive initiatives to transform operations and procedures throughout the agency.
Assist with Internal Process Improvement and Customer Experience Initiatives: Enhance operational efficiencies and create better experiences for external customers and ODJFS employees.
Present Information: Present information about transformation activities to employees at various levels.
Data Management: Track and publish data about transformation initiatives; collect, manage, sort, analyze, and report data collected from internal and external surveys ranging in size from small groups to several thousand respondents; and maintain lists of program participants.
Draft Communications: Draft communications to promote transformation programs, activities, and employee recognition.
Potential challenges of this position could include having to get things done quickly, having lots of information to manage and analyze, and having to coordinate multiple projects at one time.
Schedule: Full time. Hours are generally 8:30 am to 5:00 pm or 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Allows some flexibility with supervisor approval of the regular daily time schedule.
Location: Position is assigned to the Rhodes State Office Tower at 30 E. Broad Street, 32nd Floor, Columbus, OH 43215.
Travel: May very occasionally travel within the State of Ohio.
Position Number: 20036565. This position is Unclassified per ORC 124.11 (A)(9) and is overtime exempt.
The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:
OPTION 1:
3 yrs. exp. in project management (i.e., management & development of project/program requirements, design, development, testing/pilot, training & full-scale implementation), with experience to be commensurate with project/program &/or position description on file (e.g., specific human service program area, management information sciences, fiscal) and 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects.
OR OPTION 2:
Successful completion of 2 yrs. post-secondary education majoring in business administration, public administration, computer science/information technology, social science, or health, with major being commensurate with project to be assigned and 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects.
OR OPTION 3:
Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
Necessary Skills:
The successful candidate will be a proficient project manager with demonstrated skills and experience in managing and implementing fast-paced, multi-focused, and diverse types of projects. The successful candidate will be proficient in Microsoft tools including MS Project, Teams, and Teams Live; SharePoint, PowerBI, PowerPoint, and The Beacon IOP platform. Candidates who are proactive, can identify new technologies to support our work, propose better ways of doing things, and bring innovative thinking to our activities and goals are desired. Verbal and written skills using plain language is required. Data management and analytical skills are needed to support our measurements goals. Public speaking and presentation skills are desired. Team player. Self-management. Proactive engagement in activities. High attention to detail. Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.

Pay Information
This position is in the State of Ohio’s E1 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 15. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $43.09 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
