Collaborate with systems, electrical, mechanical, and software engineering to achieve required technical feasibility of designs. Responsible for light source/illumination optics design, optical layout of freeform and non-freeform design, imaging design with reflective, refractive, diffractive and holographic optical elements. Define optical materials and coatings, modeling of solar load, stray light, and controlling image distortion, quality and size in optical systems. Lead in concept, design, development, modification, and evaluation of head up display platforms. Apply global strategies to accommodate North American market and other opportunities. Support project leaders in monthly budget forecasting updates, external companies, and resources that may be contracted to provide design and/or fabrication services. Interface with international partners including, but not limited to, teams located in Japan, China, and Germany. Interface with design teams locally and globally to ensure robust product designs. Interface with Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) customers to participate in design reviews to ensure objectives are met and identifies and resolves implementation issues. Adhere to automotive product development and program management processes to ensure successful milestone reviews, design completion deadlines, and cost objectives. Use computer assisted engineering/design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks. Conduct simulation and testing to ensure the integrity of the designs at multiple stages in the development cycle. Generate and analyze test data, reports, and prepares information as needed in the design documentation process. Participate in development of design process procedures. Support DV, PV, production development and launch of opto-mechanical systems and components. Identification and interaction with external suppliers for prototype optical components. Determine optical component requirements and availability appropriate to product phase. Develop optical coating specifications where required. Support development testing & evaluations, establishment and follow-up of DVP & R etc. Perform standard product engineering tasks such as functional analysis, DFMEA, and other quality systems in regards to optics. Employ quality improvements and supplier relations approach utilizing customer required formats such as Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Production Quality Process (APQP) techniques. Manage product design, tasks, equipment, and tools within budget constraints of given projects.
HOURS: 40 hours per week (9 am to 6 pm)

The experience and education requirements are:
Five (5) years of progressive experience in the specialty field and a Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related degree discipline
