The Provost and Vice President, Academic and Research is a key member of the University’s executive and shares leadership in all aspects of the University’s mission and priorities. They are an experienced academic administrator and scholar who leads by example in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, high academic standards, and a commitment to continuous improvement, progressive academic policies, and academic integrity in teaching, research, and service.
Responsibilities
Serve as a strategic and operational executive partner to the President and Vice-Chancellor.
Lead and support initiatives at the strategic and operational levels.
Foster an inclusive and collegial culture among faculty, staff, and students.
Support innovative academic programming, research, and experiential learning opportunities.
Attract, recruit, retain, and develop faculty, staff, and students.
Build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. or other terminal degree with a track record in research, creative activities, experiential learning, and teaching at the post-secondary level.
Extensive experience as a senior administrative leader, ideally as a Dean, Vice President, or Associate Provost.
Experience in strategic and academic planning, financial stewardship, and external relations.
Experience in collegial governance and with multiple labour unions.
Demonstrated success in implementing reconciliation and decolonization initiatives.
