This position is a part of Southern Timberlands Business in the Arkansas Oklahoma Region and will report to the Planning Manager. This is a salaried, exempt position located in De Queen, AR. The selected candidate must live within, or be willing to relocate to, a area that allows for a commute of one hour or less to De Queen, AR. Relocation assistance will be provided.
Key Functions:
Responsible for construction and maintenance of forest roads and bridges in an active, working forest. This includes, but is not limited to, understanding watershed and topography, environmental risks and abatement, road material and composition, weather and ground limitations, public interaction, managing contractor road crews, and the ability to understand value versus cost.
Responsible for a budget that must last a year covering all road associated costs despite unforeseen weather events resulting in road system damage.
Working with local government officials and the USFS on the shared use of roads, their use of our material pits, cost share roads, and most other issues related to roads.
A commitment to and role modeling of safety is essential, and the safety of contractors is the first priority and includes compliance with all of Weyerhaeuser’s safety expectations.
Ability to assume the responsibilities associated with asset protection. These include employee training, coordination of employee wildfire response, coordination with contractors and local wildfire response agencies, and/or assessment of wildfire equipment needs.
A Bachelor's degree in forestry or a related field, or equivalent experience
Preferred: 5 years’ experience in road maintenance and construction
Preferred: 5 years’ experience in asset protection
Live within, or be willing to relocate to, a location that allows for a commute of one hour or less to De Queen, AR
Basic negotiating and contract administration skills
Knowledge of practical application of forestry Best Management Practices (BMPs)
Willingness to learn and use Weyerhaeuser’s inventory system
Ability to use computer software systems (i.e., Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Willingness to participate in and/or lead asset protection (wildfire protection and prevention) activities
Knowledge of mobile applications
Willingness to abide by established safety standards
Demonstrated leadership and people skills
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Strong communication skills - both oral and written
Problem solving skills.
Good teaming skills including the ability and willingness to work with and across different functions.
Willingness to cover additional projects and assignments as needed
What We Offer:
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $49,379-$102,556 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours and paid parental leave for all full-time employees.
