Job Summary

The Wethersfield High School Marching Band is looking for high-energy volunteers to play a key role in assisting with the Marching Band. The desire is for the volunteer to be in regular attendance at rehearsals with a positive attitude, great energy, and ready to inspire students! The volunteer will bring their past experience and skill to the students, and will actively assist to plan and prepare for rehearsals after learning the rehearsal goals from the Band Director. The volunteer will attend rehearsals during the fall season which lasts from Band Camp in August until the end of the competition season in November. It would be ideal if the volunteer were available for off-season rehearsals.

General Responsibilities

Attend after school rehearsals, competitions, and any extra rehearsals or performances as needed;

Provide a positive, welcoming, hard-working environment for students;

Plan and prepare for rehearsals;

Demonstrate various skills as related to marching band;

Identify, correct, and fine tune any issues with technique;

Consistently demonstrate quality teaching and rehearsal techniques when working with students;

Educate and supervise students on proper equipment care;

Inform the director of any repair or maintenance issues pertaining to equipment;

Work with the staff during off season to prepare and create next year's show;

Candidate Requirements

Experience performing with at least 1 marching band, preferably more than 1 marching band;

A positive, caring attitude;

Focus on Growth mindset - candidate does not need to know everything, but does need to know how to grow as an instructor;

Excellent attendance at rehearsals and performances;

Consistently on-time to rehearsals and performances;

Prior teaching experience preferred, but not required.

This is an unpaid, volunteer position. There are no wages or benefits associated with this role.
