Purpose of role

The key responsibilities of this role are to support the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team, by updating, enhancing and maintaining financial models used for strategic analysis, such as financial stress capacity, cash flow forecasts, strategic planning model, and assisting with presentations to Senior Management. The position reports to the Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis (VP FP&A) and works closely with the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis (Manager FP&A).

Key responsibilities

To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability needed. This includes the following; other duties may be assigned as needed within skill sets or if additional responsibilities are added.

Update and enhance the capacity, cash flow and strategic planning models with transaction data to assist VP FP&A present to Senior Management.

Update the stressed financial capacity model to report headroom and capacity on a monthly and weekly basis

Provides meaningful analysis of forecast capacity, cash flows, and financial planning to assist VP FP&A.

Assist Manager FP&A with updating the planning models for IT and structural improvements and redesign models as necessary.

Support the FP&A team in preparation of presentations of financial information to Senior Management, including tables, charts, and analysis

Use SharePoint, PowerPoint and Power BI to create analytical charts and tables for presentation

Liaise with analysts in property departments to ensure transactions reported in planning models are accurate and up to date

Support FP&A team with maintaining internal and external benchmark files and sources

Assist VP FP&A with tracking assets and business units’ and property portfolio profitability and returns against benchmarks

Develop an understanding of the current systems (MRI, TMS, Argus and Cognos)

Participate in special projects which will better the internal controls and Company’s systems and processes

Take reasonable care to protect their own health and safety, and the health and safety of other persons who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions at work.

Preferred skills

Qualifications

A University degree or diploma specializing in Real Estate, Accounting, or Finance is preferred

CPA preferred but not mandatory

Track record

2+ years of business analytical experience, preferably within the Real Estate sector

Self-starter who is detail-oriented with strong quantitative and analytical skills

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Highly organized work style, strong attention to detail

Ability to coordinate /facilitate communication across the different functional lines of the business

Technical skills/knowledge

Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

Familiarity with market leading FP&A software and tools

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize quantitative financial analysis into concise written and verbal reports

The expected base salary range for this role is $80,000 - 110,000. Actual offered salary will depend on experience, skills and qualifications.
