On behalf of our client, a leading international law firm, Personnel 2000 are recruiting for an experienced Finance System Manager.
The Finance Systems Manager will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and enhancing the firm’s financial systems, with a primary focus on the firm’s practice management system, Aderant. This pivotal role will ensure systems operate efficiently, support business and finance operations, and enhance the overall user experience through ongoing development, configuration, and training initiatives.
The role will lead system upgrade projects, working closely with the IT department to implement technical solutions and provide expert-level support to users. A key initial responsibility will be delivering a major upgrade of the core Aderant system in early 2026, which includes transitioning the platform from an on-premises solution to Aderant Sierra, hosted on AWS cloud. The role will also be responsible for planning and delivering future rollouts and functionality upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Systems Management & Support
Serve as the primary point of contact for all Aderant-related and finance system queries and issues.
Maintain system integrity, ensuring accurate data, system security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Administer user access, roles, and security, maintaining appropriate controls in line with AML and regulatory standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, coordinating with IT and external vendors as required.
Monitor system performance, identifying inefficiencies and proposing improvements.
Engage with Aderant communities and forums to stay updated on user trends, challenges, and best practices.
Upgrade & Implementation Projects
Lead and manage Aderant upgrade and implementation projects, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Oversee configuration, testing, and issue resolution for new releases and product offerings.
Coordinate data migrations, systems integration, and rollout of new modules or upgrades.
Define and document requirements with stakeholders, ensuring alignment and successful delivery.
User Training & Support
Design and deliver training for finance and non-finance users to maximise system adoption and efficiency.
Develop comprehensive user documentation, quick guides, and best-practice procedures.
Provide ongoing support to users, assisting with queries and helping them optimise system functionality.
Reporting & Data Management
Assist finance teams in extracting and reporting financial data from Aderant.
Ensure structured and accessible data for business intelligence and decision-making purposes.
Support system-driven compliance and regulatory reporting, including audit preparation.
Qualifications
A recognised accounting or bookkeeping qualification is desirable.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar finance systems role, preferably within a professional services or law firm environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Proven experience managing and supporting Aderant in a professional services setting.
Strong technical understanding of system configuration, upgrades, performance tuning, and issue resolution.
Experience with SQL, Microsoft Excel, SSRS Report Builder, and/or Power BI.
Solid understanding of legal finance operations, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
Experience in managing projects and working with cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication skills, particularly when working with non-technical users.
Understanding of system integrations and process automation.
