## Position Overview
Voice Up seeks PTSD Youth Research & Advocacy Interns for our mental health initiative addressing post-traumatic stress disorder among middle school, high school, and young adult populations. This remote internship focuses on trauma-informed care research, family support resources, and awareness campaigns.
## The Need
Research shows 1 in 4 teenagers experience trauma by age 16, with 5% of adolescents meeting PTSD criteria. Our initiative bridges research and real-world application, ensuring youth access to trauma-informed support systems and evidence-based treatments.
## Key Responsibilities
**Research & Analysis**
- Conduct literature reviews on adolescent PTSD prevalence and treatment modalities (TF-CBT, EMDR, family therapy)
- Research cultural factors affecting PTSD diagnosis in diverse populations
- Compile evidence-based resources for educators and families
**Content Creation**
- Develop educational materials on PTSD symptoms and treatments
- Create family support guides with practical strategies
- Design social media campaigns to reduce mental health stigma
**Community Outreach**
- Connect with school counselors and mental health professionals
- Support trauma-informed school policy development
- Assist in creating peer support programs for affected youth
## Qualifications
**Required:**
- Enrollment in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Education, or related field
- Strong research and communication skills
- Passion for mental health advocacy and youth development
- Understanding of trauma-informed care principles
**Preferred:**
- Coursework in abnormal psychology or trauma studies
- Mental health advocacy experience
- Familiarity with evidence-based treatments
