About the program:
AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
Your responsibilities will include:
Be part of one of Australia’s most significant Defence programs. AIR6500 is delivering a Joint Air Battle Management System (JABMS), a first-of-its-kind capability connecting Defence platforms, sensors, and effectors across air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains.
As a Junior System Integration Engineer, you’ll take the software builds created by our development teams and help deploy, configure, and integrate them into test environments and mission systems. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be supported by experienced engineers and provided with on-the-job training to build your expertise in system integration.
Key Responsibilities
Deploy software builds into integration and mission environments.
Assist in configuring and monitoring test environments.
Support defect investigation and troubleshooting with guidance from senior engineers.
Learn and contribute to CI/CD pipeline operations and automation activities.
Participate in planning and execution of integration events, demonstrations, and capability showcases.
About you:
We’re looking for enthusiastic early-career engineers who are eager to grow their skills in system integration. To succeed, you’ll bring:
A Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
1–3 years of professional experience in software engineering (or equivalent internships/graduate placements).
A solid understanding of software fundamentals, build pipelines, and version control (e.g. Git).
Basic knowledge of Linux, networking, and scripting.
A collaborative, practical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
An active NV-1 security clearance and ability to handle Export Controlled information
