Position Overview
To promote Butler University Athletics and its respective athletic teams through providing information to media outlets while also distributing information directly through web site and social media channels. This position also works with coaches to develop their programs and is tasked with reporting to the NCAA and documenting athletic competitions.
Responsibilities
Writes, edits, designs and produces content (releases, publications, graphics, limited video pieces, media information) to inform the media and general public about Butler Athletics. Includes updating of social media and other platforms to distribute this information
Provide information to counterparts at other universities, the conference office, and the NCAA to assist in promoting Butler Athletics
Oversee the updating and content of Butler Athletics' web site - ButlerSports.com, including implementation of live stats, video streams, and other features
Compiling in-game statistical information for select Butler Athletics contests
Oversight of media operations and assistance in game management for select Butler Athletics contests
This position assists in the supervision of part-time employees and student workers in our department.
This position will also schedule statistics personnel who are hired for select Butler Athletics contests.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
At least three years experience working in media relations in an athletics setting
Strong writing and verbal skills
Statistical expertise with a majority of the sport programs Butler offers
Graphic design and video editing
Ability to work nights and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supervising employees and/or student workers
