Position: Accounting Analyst, GS-9/11

Working Hours: 8:00 am- 4:30pm

Salary: GS 9- $69,923.00-90,898.00, GS 11- $84,601.00-109,975.00

Full Performance level: GS-13

Major Duties:

GS-9

Performs complete range of professional accounting work as it pertains to classifying, recording, reporting, and reconciling accounting information.

Performs analysis and reconciliations to determine the accuracy, relevancy, and timeliness of data maintained in the General Ledger (GL) and utilizes proper account structure, rules, and accounting theory to maintain GL/Standard General Ledger (SGL) trial balances and related procedures

Knowledge of accounting theory and practices as applied to the programmatic responsibilities of the unit

Understanding of budget execution processes that support the Financial Plan and funds control and understands the operation and application of accounting rules.

Knowledge of various software applications, such as spreadsheets, to prepare worksheets and other reports used in completing assignments. Constructs and modifies worksheets using various software applications.In addition to the above duties:

GS-11

Applying accounting principles, theories, and techniques to perform accounting work for operational programs or systems.

Examining accounting data/records to ensure accuracy and investigate complaints.

Developing queries and reports utilizing automated accounting systems.

Analyzing and advising managers on accounting and financial matters.Qualifications and Evaluations

GS-9: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

Experience working with Automated Financial Processing systems.

Experience prioritizing work and complete reconciling tasks timely and accurately and develop and adapt new financial methods and procedures to meet changing needs.GS-11: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level. SE (in addition to above) is defined as follows:

Experience and knowledge of reviewing and analyzing travel vouchers and transactional information.

Experience and knowledge of reviewing and analyzing financial transactions and supporting documentation.

Experience performing trend analysis on travel and financial records to identify potential patterns and common findings that could indicate systemic problems or lead to improved efficiencies.

.Education

All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

GS-9: Applicant must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

GS-11: Applicant must have a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.
