Freelance Art Director

Desert Publications Inc. seeks a locally based Freelance Art Director to join our team in Palm Springs, California. Our independently owned company produces several consumer and custom publications.

The Freelance Art Director will design luxury lifestyle publications and produce photo shoots, from selecting and contracting photographers to directing the talent on location.

Candidate must submit a portfolio showing a range of lifestyle magazine design, demonstrating the ability to conceptualize and execute layouts for elite custom luxury lifestyle magazines and support collaterals.

The position requires proficiency in the Adobe product suite, especially InDesign and Photoshop. The successful candidate will be a well-organized self-starter who can amiably collaborate with clients on direction and execution, meet deadlines, and manage a photography budget.

Responsibilities:

Magazine design and layout

Photo shoot production (including management of budget and contracts)

Photo research

Organization of art and design assets

Skill requirements:

Project management and coordination

Adobe InDesign and Photoshop

Microsoft Word

Proficiency with illustration tools a plus
