MAINTENANCE WORKER

Job Brief: This position provides support to the maintenance staff in a variety of water maintenance activities.

Duties include the excavation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of water lines and service lines.

The role also involves assisting with the installation of service connections for new residential homes, repairing leaks on fire hydrants and water mains, and performing minor repairs while reporting major repair needs to a supervisor.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: * Assist maintenance staff with water system maintenance activities.

* Excavate, replace, repair, and maintain water lines and service lines.

* Install service connections for new residential houses.

* Repair leaks on fire hydrants and water mains.

* Perform minor repairs; report major repairs to the supervisor.

* Perform general maintenance duties as assigned.

* Work evenings and weekends as needed to support staffing shortages, emergencies, or other departmental needs.

Qualifications: * Two years of responsible maintenance and construction experience.

* Plumbing experience preferred.

* Education or training (formal or informal) sufficient to demonstrate the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

* Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license.

Additional Requirements: * Prior to employment, candidates recommended for hire will be required to successfully pass a urinalysis and/or blood test to screen for alcohol and/or drug abuse.
