General Information
This is routine work in operating a wastewater or water treatment plant and allied appurtenances while on an assigned shift.

Requirements
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from a standard senior high school, or the successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test, and a minimum of one year experience at the level of a Treatment Plant Operator Trainee; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
Special Requirement
Must be certified in water or wastewater treatment by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM). Out-of-state certifications may be accepted, but ADEM certification must be completed within 6 months of employment. Mobile - possession of a Grade III Certificate in Water or Wastewater Treatment, preferably both, except for assignment to the Stickney Filtration Plant (Moffat Road) and the Myers Filtration Plant (Hubert Pierce Road) which requires a Grade IV Water Certificate. Prichard - possession of a Grade II Certificate in Water Treatment OR possession of a Grade III or IV Wastewater Certificate. Bayou La Batre - possession of a Grade II Certificate in Water Treatment or Grade III Certificate in Wastewater Treatment. Other smaller jurisdictions require possession of a Grade II Certification in Water or Wastewater Treatment or both. Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence.
