The School of Communication Fiscal Officer is responsible for and implements fiscal processes for the School of Communication, including the Lantern; ensures adherence to appropriate internal controls and compliance with established policies and procedures; monitors the allocation of funds; oversees procurement needs for the department, programs, and The Lantern; enters and reviews fiscal and travel transactions for purchase orders, reimbursement, purchasing card transactions, and internal orders; audits for compliance and apprises requests for payments; serves as the fiscal compliance officer for the School; enters journal and budget transfers; processes deposits; contribute to monthly fiscal reconciliation; manages projects for use in determining budgets; escalates all unresolved financial issues or concerns to the business manager; serves as fiscal contact person and advises faculty, researchers, staff, and students of university, college, and department policies and procedures; researches and resolves faculty, researchers, staff, and lecturer fiscal inquiries and issues; disseminates financial policy, processes, and procedural information; represents the department and attends appropriate college and university meetings when necessary; provides fiscal backup up coverage of business manager as needed; works productively as a team member to support all business and academic operations; trains and assists faculty and graduate students on spend authorization entries in Workday; prepares interpretative reports as required; assists in coordination of work assignments for student employees; maintains office supplies for main office use; answers general inquires for faculty, staff, students and guests; serves as back up for key control for the School of Communication; coordinates office preparation for new hires; performs related or additional job duties as required. Additional Information:
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration or equivalent experience. 2 years of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge and experience of university general ledger reconciliation; financial spreadsheets and Workday experience; ability to maintain attention to detail; knowledge of accounting principles and applications; excellent communication, customer service and problem resolution skills strongly desired; demonstrated ability to manage multiple- time-critical priorities and projects with minimal supervision;
