Aoka is a municipal services provider serving jurisdictions across Texas. We support local governments with expert building inspections, plan reviews, and code consulting—powered by our proprietary software that accelerates inspection turnaround times and helps prevent costly construction delays.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer and enforce municipal, state, and federal codes related to building construction, safety, energy efficiency, and accessibility.
Supervise and support building inspectors, plan examiners, permit technicians, and other code compliance staff.
Oversee and review the issuance of building permits, plan approvals, occupancy certificates, and inspection reports.
Interpret complex code provisions and provide guidance to architects, engineers, contractors, property owners, and the general public.
Collaborate with fire, planning, zoning, engineering, and public works departments to ensure coordinated code enforcement.
Conduct field inspections and site visits for complex projects or escalated issues.
Manage appeal processes, code updates, and ordinance revisions.
Represent the jurisdiction or company in meetings, hearings, and public forums related to building safety and construction.
Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on permitting, inspection activity, and code enforcement.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
ICC certification as a Certified Building Official (CBO) is required.
Additional ICC certifications (e.g., Plans Examiner, Building Inspector) highly desirable.
Minimum 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in building inspection, code enforcement, or construction management.
Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
Ability to analyze and solve complex code-related issues under pressure.
Compensation & Benefits:
$90,000 - $120,000 yearly salary
