Position Overview
Housed in the Office of Student Experience and Engagement (S.E.E.), this role's primary purpose is to collaborate with campus partners to help support student success with a strong focus on first-year student retention. Additionally, the role provides program support for the various initiatives within the S.E.E. office. This unique role requires the ability to manage projects and collaborate with academic leadership across the university in the support of students. The ideal candidate is both a relationship-builder and a systems-thinker-comfortable working with data, collaborating, and stepping into various projects.
Responsibilities
Retention & Student Support
• Serve as the students-at-risk liaison to the academic colleges with a strong focus on first-year students
• Partner with the colleges to create and implement formal outreach efforts to at-risk students
• Identify, track, and connect at-risk students to appropriate resources
• Capture retention data and work alongside stakeholders to create both proactive and reactive interventions to ensure students belong academically and socially
• Monitor Butler's real-time early alert system and academic recovery process (probation) to provide timely support
• Lead the attrition reporting process for colleges
• Partner with colleges for re-enrollment strategies and initiatives
• Create reports documenting retention and re-enrollment initiatives for various campus stakeholders
• Utilize developmental approaches to assist students in success coaching and mentoring, in making healthy transitions to college, create educational plans, and make referrals as appropriate.
Student Experience Support
• Provide support management support for first-year experience programming and related engagement efforts, specifically as it relates to New Student Registration and Orientation
• Collaborate with S.E.E. team members and campus partners to coordinate events, workshops, and student-facing initiatives.
• Contribute to the assessment and continuous improvement of student engagement programs and services.
Required Qualifications
• Master's degree in Higher Education or related area
• 3+ years of work experience in an educational setting or related field. Commitment to student retention and success
Preferred Qualifications
• 3+ years of work experience in a college / university setting
• Direct experience working with academic advising and student success coaching
• Direct experience working with college / university student retention efforts
• Work with Navigate, higher education CRM
• Familiarity with student retention strategies and first-year student support models
• Direct experience with data analysis and assessment
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
