Minimum Qualifications Who We Are: Chesterfield Community Corrections Services provides supervision, case management, and supportive services to individuals participating in specialty dockets in Chesterfield County and the City of Colonial Heights.
The Chesterfield / Colonial Heights Recovery Court is a collaborative docket operated by Chesterfield Community Corrections Services, Chesterfield Treatment Courts, the Twelfth Judicial Circuit, Chesterfield Mental Health and Support Services, the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, the Public Defender's Office, and the Chesterfield Police Department.
Chesterfield Community Corrections is seeking a qualified candidate to provide supervision and case management to individuals with a substance use disorder who are participating in Recovery Court.
The ideal candidate for the position is passionate about working with individuals impacted by substance use, eager to collaborate with partner agencies, and comfortable holding individuals accountable for adhering to court ordered conditions.
This specialized docket carries a maximum caseload of approximately 45 individuals.
What You Do and How You Do It: * Supervise participants in the Recovery Court who have substance use disorder.
* Monitor and enforce compliance with court ordered supervision conditions and provide notifications to the court of non-compliance.
* Participate in a collaborative team environment and provide input on appropriate service adjustments for participants.
* Provide verbal and written correspondence to the court.
* Perform drug and alcohol testing.
* Conduct home and work visits as needed in partnership with a Chesterfield County Police Officer.
* Document participant information in state and local databases and maintain individual case files.
* Conduct assessments of potential program participants using verified assessment tools.
* Assist individuals with making positive lifestyle changes including stable housing, employment, treatment engagement, and overall thinking and behavior.
* Encourage participants to engage with Peer Recovery Specialists, recovery support groups, and other networks to build a healthy, sustainable recovery program.
* Create, develop, and maintain partnerships with the Twelfth Judicial Circuit, Chesterfield Mental Health Support Services, and other stakeholders.
Here's What You Need: * Bachelor's Degree required.
Degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology or Social Work preferred.
Two years of relevant experience in human services/criminal justice field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
* Knowledge of judicial system and community supervision.
* Caseload management skills and knowledge of legal and evidence-based practices.
* Computer competency to include operating a personal computer, work issued cell phone and related software, other standard office equipment.
* Completion of Core Skills through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.
* VCIN certification.
* Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Current valid driver's license and good driving record required.
Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months.
Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview.
Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of the interview date.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires passing a more stringent criminal background check.
Must be a US citizen or have been a lawful resident of the US for the past ten consecutive years.
This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited.
