We're looking for a compassionate and reliable Licensed Practical Nurse to provide quality nursing care to residents in stable and predictable conditions at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home, in accordance with the Professional Nurses Practice Act.

Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.
The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties: As an LPN, you will implement selective aspects of the nursing care plan, i.e., comfort, hygiene, safety measures, nutrition, etc., under progressively more generalized supervision from a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse of a higher level.
In this role, you will also: * Observe patients for changes in physical and/or mental status or behavior and report significant changes.
* Obtain specimens for laboratory testing as assigned.
* Take vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
* Administer medication and treatments in accordance with policies and procedures.
* Transcribe physicians' orders and record medication and the patient's condition in the patient's charts and other records.
* Gather information about the patient's past and current physical and mental status.
* May administer oral and parenteral medication as prescribed by the physician and document procedure.
* Apply dressings, ointments, and other treatments as ordered and document the procedure.
* Assist physicians with routine examinations and treatments.
* Bathe, feed, and make patients comfortable.
* Perform individual and group health teaching as assigned.

Appointment Type: Job Appointment (PRN/WAE) Career Progression: This position may be filled as an LPN 1, 2, or 3 Work Schedule: Day Shift (6:45a-7:15p)Night Shift (6:45p-7:15a) Compensation: This position receives Premium Pay of $7.00 per hour physically worked and shift differentials, with additional rates based on the shift worked per applicable pay policies.
